The hut survived storm Ciara, but the road didn’t! There was a significant landslip just below the forest car park, washing away a bridge.
So, for the next few weeks the access to the valley will be via the forestry road to Gerionedd. The gate to the road will be unlocked and the road is navigable by a normal car.
A resident of the valley drove over the road today in a small Citroen, and it was fine.
To access the forestry road, navigate from Trefriw to Gerionedd, drive down the east side of the lake, then cross over the dam and find the forestry road to Crafnant. It may be signed.
It is thought the road will take about 3 weeks to be repaired.
