Ok, the following letter has been recieved from the council. This may require a little bit more effort but we need to do it and as your being good to the environment it should give you all a nice warm fluffy feeling!!

    Dear Customer,
    IMPORTANT
THIS LETTER EXPLAINS HOW NEW LEGISLATION WILL AFFECT YOUR BUSINESS
CHANGES TO YOUR TRADE WASTE COLLECTION SERVICE WASTE (ENGLAND AND WALES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2012

As a valued customer of Conwy County Borough Council’s trade waste collection service, I am writing to give you advance notice of how new legislation will affect the way we collect your waste.

From 1st January 2015, Regulation 13 of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations will require the Council — and any other company collecting waste – to collect paper, plastic, metal and glass separately where technically, environmentally and economically practicable.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOUR BUSINESS OR ORGANISATION?
You must make arrangements for any paper, plastic, metal or glass that your business or organisation produces to be recycled. If your general waste (refuse) bin contains these materials, the Council will not be able to collect it.

To ensure that we comply with the new legislation, from the end of your current trade waste contract invoicing period on 30th September 2014, we will only offer you continuation of a trade waste contract if you sign up for the Council’s recycling service.

    WHAT ABOUT FOOD WASTE?
There is no legal requirement to recycle food waste at this time however we strongly recommend that you consider this also. Hundreds of businesses across Conwy are saving money and helping the environment by recycling their food waste, which we collect and use to generate electricity.

    WHAT TO DO NEXT
Please consider which recyclable materials you produce as part of your activities. We can provide recycling bins for paper, plastic (bottles, food trays and pots), metal (food tins and beverage cans) and glass (bottles and jars) at a cost of less than half the cost of a refuse bin. If you only produce small amounts, we can provide smaller containers. A price list of all our recycling services is enclosed with this letter.

There was a load of other text … but it’s in Welsh so I shall ignore it!

In short please can you use the recycling facilities in the hut or take recyclable material to the recycling facilities in Trefriw (located down the road opposite the mill). No more beer can mountains please.

    Thanks,

    Rich Johnson
    The Warden

PS Working meet 4th & 5th October – your prescence is required.
