TUPTO

Sunday, May 9th, Stanage High Neb.

If you’re interested in finding out more about us, the TupTo is for you.

TupTo = Turn Up and Tie On. This means that so long as you can belay safely and have the basic equipment you can come along and meet some of us, have a chat about the club and what we get up to. And of course do a few climbs with one of us of whatever grade you are comfortable at with. You can lead or second – it’s totally your choice.

Where

Meet by 10.30 at the parking area on the sharp corner of the road at Dennis Knoll (OS Grid Ref 228843). If the weather is good it’s worth arriving in good time as it will be busy.

Equipment

A harness and belay device are really the only essentials but rock shoes make it soooo much easier, a chalk bag can help at times and a helmet is strongly recommended. Almost regardless of the weather you will want some warm and waterproof clothes as a key part of the climbing experience is chatting, watching, faffing and generally not climbing. O’h and of course, lunch / drinks / snacks etc.

Dogs are welcome, as are other family members and friends. Anyone under 18 will need to accompanied by a parent or someone acting in loco parentis.

High Neb is the highest part of the legendary Stanage Edge and in nice weather it’s a glorious place to be. High Neb has a wealth of classic climbs of all grades and is a brisk 20 minute uphill walk from the car park.
