We’re doing the wonderful Four Peaklands Peak walk. This is supposed to make use of open access to visit four splendid Staffordshire peaks. But I understand there is some dispute about whether the last one is actually on open access land!

Regardless, meet at 10.00 for a 10.30 start in the largest of the two free Alstonefield car parks (SK129555). The walk in the book is 10 miles but we might lose a mile or so if the final peak is blocked. Its also 500m of ascent in four (or possibly three) short steep bursts.

Please note that the walk is also being advertised on the BMC website and we’re hoping to welcome about 10 local BMC members. I know you’ll all chat to them as we go round.

And afterwards, Jay Whiting will be giving a lecture on his Himalayan Triple Crown. This will take place straight after the walk at 17.00 in the village hall. Team coffee and biscuits will be available. But please bring a change of clothes in case you get muddy.

A friend of mine who has already seen this lecture said it was ‘really, really good’. He said the mountaineers amongst us will love it. I’m excited!

    See you there. Sue
