Description:
Meet Organiser: David Kirsfelds
Roll up, roll up, it’s the return of your favourite January Mynydd hut meet! We’re staying at the George Starkey hut in Patterdale, within striking distance of the Helvellyn massif. If you fancy a romp up Swirral / Striding Edge or some winter climbs on Brown Cove Crags then this is the meet for you!
To book, simply (virtually) slide £28 into the treasurer’s back pocket and send David Kirsfelds an email to let him know you’re coming. More information will be sent to attendees nearer the time to see if there’s any appetite for a communal cook-up or such.
Getting there: The hut is on the main A592 1 mile south of Glenridding. The track to Side Farm Campsite is on the immediate left of the hut, this leads to the hut car park which is at the back of the hut.
Who says you can’t run a camping meet in January!?
As promised, this will be the 2nd weekend meet of a hopefully stacked year.
I’m totally open to where we go on this one and as I’m expecting the keen / dubious ratio to be somewhat skewed in sanity’s favour we can choose a venue based around thouse attending.
I was initially thinking somewhere North Wales to get the best (worst) of the weather but really up for anything. Romp over the Glyders and a bivvy on Tryfan… anything goes!
Equally happy closer to home and theres plenty of miserable places in the peak to cut the travel time down!

We’ll be heading to Roybridge in the heart of the Scottish Highlands for our annual Scottish Winter meet. Photos show Mynydd members on this meet over the last 5 years or so – need I say more???
Roybridge is perfectly placed for climbing on the Ben and Creag Meagaidh with Glencoe and the Cairngorms also within striking range. In addition to the climbing, there is hill walking to suit all tastes, from the tourist track up the Ben to Ledge route if you fancy something a little steeper, skiing, bothying, snow holing, etc.
We have 28 beds booked in the Àite Cruinnichidh hostel – details in the journal or reply here or pm me (£140 to the usual account to secure a place). When it all comes together (weather, conditions, partner) Scottish Winter is MAGIC – get involved folks!!!!!!!!
