Guidebooks for Alpine meet.

Hi everyone, I have been doing a bit of guidebook reserch! Here’s the situation as I see it.
Rockclimbing: there are three guides, all in the same series by Kurt von Kanel
Schweis Plaisir West. This covers rock routes W of Meigingen
Swchweis Plaisir East. This covers rock routes E of Meiringen
Schweis Plaisir Selection. This covers pretty well all of the Alps. This one has English translations.
There are also the Extreme versions, but I have not concerned myself with those!
It’s a pity that Innertkichen is on the boundary between the first 2 guides, as they are more comprehensive for a given sector than the Selection.

Alpine Climbing. In addition to the comphehensive guides, Plaisir Alpin, gives a good selection of routes at a reasonable grade, and is recommended.

Walking
The Bernese Apls- a Walkers Guide – Kev Reynolds. This covers the region mostly to the west of Innertkirchen
Central Switzerland – A Walkers Guide -Kev Reynolds. This covers the region immediately to the East of Innertkirchen
Tour of the Jungfrau Region- Kev Reynolds

Via Ferratas.

Via Ferrata in Switzerland – Rother guide.

The first three guides are avilable from the BMC, or Needlesports. The latter’s website gives excellent information re contents. The are all expensive, about £34 from the BMC.

I suggest that if any one has one or more of these, then post it on the forum, along with any other info re guides, and we can hopefully pool resources.
Maybe a meeting at the Royal one Thursday prior to the meet.

Steph – has Via Ferrata guide
Maria – I’ve ordered Plaisir West and we already have Extrem and another small guide for Salbit but nothing on anything more alpine (these are all rock routes guides). If anyone has anything on alpine options I’d be interested in borrowing in advance (obviously scanning /copying isn’t allowed so I wouldn’t do that while I had them!), and happy to let nice people do same with books we’ve already got.
Seth – asked which maps were best for area, as not clear.
Penny – has Reynolds book and a walking guide from Rother which also includes some via ferrata
