ParticipantSteve Bowker is doing a 140 mile Coast to Coast cycle on 19th – 22nd May in aid of two fine Stroke charities. Steve is looking for both sponsors and for people to join the ride for either the whole trip or individual days.
More information can be found at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SteveBowker, or alternative email or call Steve (details in the members address list).
Steve has also shared the following general information:
STEVE’S COAST TO COAST FUNDRAISING CYCLE RIDE IN SUPPORT OF STROKE
Come and challenge yourself, raise funds for Stroke and support Steve on the 140 mile coast to coast cycle route from Workington to Newcastle while raising sponsorship via our online money giving page http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SteveBowker Our aim is to complete the route in three days staying in bunkhouse accommodation along the way. Accommodation and logistical support for the three day trip can be booked at the special cost of £215/head via: Peter Corson at ‘Trailbrakes’ Biking holidays- info@trailbrakes.co.uk (Tel: 07922 653327) using ref; ‘Steves’s Coast to Coast’. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the start point/ bunkhouse in Penrith. The trip will be un-guided/ unsupported and require participants to be largely self-sufficient and confident of route-finding and riding ability. Note that a £75 deposit is required by Trailbrakes a minimum of six weeks prior to the ride date. The following is included in Trailbrakes package:
• 3 nights’ comfortable bunkhouse accommodation all close to places to eat and drink in the evening with great service and bike storage
• Transport from Penrith to Whitehaven at the beginning of the trip
• Transport from Tynemouth to Penrith at the end of the trip
• All baggage transfers throughout the trip
• Map of the route plus GPS files if required
• Detailed route information including places to stop, eat and visit along the way
• Paricipants are responsible for providing their own meals and refreshments at the accommodation and during the rideONE-DAY SUPPORT RIDE WITH SPONSORSHIP
A further option for anyone wishing to support our riders and their cause by joining the ride for a day: fill out the registration form and actively raise sponsorship on behalf of both charities using our Virgin money-giving page, transport yourself and bicycle to the Lake District (no entry fee or costs to pay) and join up at a pre-arranged point to ride in support of our Coast to Coast cycling group for a day. It will be expected that day-riders actively fundraise on behalf of the charities using the online Virgin money giving page (no cycle transport will be provided and accommodation will remain the responsibility of the individual). Please ensure you complete the registration form and return it or email me, so that I’m aware of numbers and individual plans. -
