ParticipantHi all,
Good news we have a campsite confirmed for the Summer Meet! The Meet will take place from 12th July until 2nd August at the National Camping in Kals, at the foot of the Gross Glockner.
The Mynydd visited this site on 2019 and I received a lot of good feedback!
There is plenty to do for everyone:
Hiking: the Glockner and Venediger Gruppe are easily reachable, with plenty of day walks and huts.
Via Ferrata and rock climbing: The Lienzer Dolomiten are not far away and have plenty of via ferratas (Klettersteige) and single/multi pitch rock climbing. Here is a site with more info.
Mountaineering: Both Gross Glockner and Gross Venediger are big objectives. But there are plenty of other peaks in the area too!
I will bring some guidebooks, I have the via ferrata guide to Austria and a day hiking guide to the area.
There is no need to book anything online. We have a field booked for the Mynydd and you can register on arrival.
If you decide to come along and are not already in the WhatsApp group please do let me know, who is travelling and when, so I can keep track.
Many thanks,
MelMelanie Michon

ParticipantMy sister and I are planning to come to Cornwall, arriving Fri and leaving Tues or Wed. If anyone has 2 spare spaces in a caravan we would happily take those? Else we will be camping Jules, so you won’t be on your own 🙂

ParticipantHello,
Sorry for the delay in posting. I was struggling to find a suitable campsite in the area, with the usual requirements of pub nearby/dog friendly/Mynydd friendly, etc! It seems prices of camping have gone up a bit as well 🙁
I have found this one, which is where we will be going:
The rates are a bit complicated:
– 2 people sharing + car = £13.50 pn
– 1 person no car = £8 pn
– 1 person + car = £10 pn
I am afraid that seems to be the going rate around here.
There are 2 pubs nearby: The Royal Oak and The Grapes. Dogs are welcome too, but must be kept on lead. The campsite is near Blaenau Ffestiniog, so easy access to all the Moelwyn crags, as well as Tremadog. Also lots of walking and biking in the area!
Now the bad news – I was told by work last week I need to go to Paris for work next week and won’t be back until late on Friday evening, or perhaps Saturday morning. I am not sure I will make it to the meet, and if I do it will be on Saturday morning.
The campsite knows you are coming, just mention you are with the Mynydd. I would be really grateful if someone else wants to give the usual Mynydd faff some direction, and volunteer as Meet Leader? Please let me or Andy know?
I hope you all have fun!!

ParticipantIf it dries out I will join you later! Let me know what is happening?

ParticipantHi again,
Can I just remind people that there are limited places at the Coppermines Hut, so it is necessary to book a place with me in advance? There are still a good number of spaces left, but please avoid disappointment and let me know if you are coming. So far on the list are:
Jenny Ison x4
Chris Moore
Jules Lane
Phil Hargreaves
Dave & Liz Wilson
Mel MichonApologies if I have missed anyone off, please get in touch!

ParticipantHi Jenny,
Ah that meet has slipped the net and does not have a meet leader yet. I will run the meet, as I was planning on going anyway. Once Richard is back I will discuss the fees with him, but I will reserve you 4 spaces in the meantime!

ParticipantHi all,
So far I have around 7-8 people hoping to come on the meet. The campsite requires booking for groups over 20 people, so I won’t make a booking (yet). I have a space in the car if anyone needs a lift, I can leave from Friday lunchtime onwards.
Hope to see you in Wales!
Mel
