I’m going with Oliver and Lucy, not sure which days as just moved house so all is chaos!
Rich JohnsonParticipantI have no plans and probably won’t for a couple of weeks as I took a tumble on the bike last night and sprained my ankle.
Hopefully it’s not as bad as it feels!
Definitely up for something in early July?

Rich JohnsonParticipantPaul, I will be there!
Rich
Rich JohnsonParticipantDave,
Me and Oliver will be coming. Meat for us!
Richard
Rich JohnsonParticipantHi Rachel,
Me Rachel and Oliver will be arriving on 23rd for two weeks. One large (ish) tent.
Ta, Richard
Rich JohnsonParticipantThe Johnsons are planning to attend. Oliver’s first camping trip!
Rich JohnsonParticipantHaving been party to these discussions previously there is a case for allowing bookings on certain BH weekends. I don’t however believe that Easter is suitable having consistent member use over the past few years. There are BH weekends that
- may
benefit from allowing the booking of individual rooms only. May BH weekends have historically had poor attendance ….??
Any policy change should however include consultation of the members and be based on data from a number of years.
The hut makes money and pays for itself and we should not lose sight of the fact that the Hut is a member resource first!
For the Record me and Rachel (& Oliver) were planning on going this weekend. We are not now.
Rich JohnsonParticipantDave,
Thanks for organising. I will try to get up for the Saturday only (so I can get my paperwork done!) and help with a few jobs.
If I can leave the rest to your good self this would be most helpful!
Thanks,
RichardRich JohnsonParticipantI’ve bivvied there on a number of occasions, by far the best was dossing by the plant room on the Midi station. This was a popular spot and last time was tolerated by the Midi staff as long as you made no mess and were gone by the time the first tourists arrived. It was also warm being near the plant room, if a little noisy.
I have heard that you can also doss in an old cable car plant room. This is however very cold! Never been up there myself.
Also bivvied on the Col in a bivy bag. One year I took a mates advice and saved weight by only sleeping in a down jacket, fleece liner and bivy bag. My advice, don’t do it!
Good down bag, bivy bag and thermarest will make you as comfortable as possible. Synthetic jacket a good addition and insurance in case the down gets wet.
Jetboil would also be very useful for melting snow!
That’s my thoughts anyway!

Rich JohnsonParticipantI have am appointment with the High Peak MP Andrew Bingham on Saturday (hence I will be late for the Bonfire meet).
I will be raising the issue above in conjunction with Peak Distruct MTB.
If there are any points that Mynydd members would like to raise let me know here.
Thanks,
Rich JRich JohnsonParticipantPS. Mark & Sonja, I have you down. Please let me know of any dietary requirements otherwise it will be assumed anything goes!
Rich JohnsonParticipantDan, were aware of the roof. Our contractor will be undertaking work this Autumn to repair the damage and undertake a number of other roof repair works whilst the scaffolding is there.
Thanks, Rich J
