We’ll be heading to Roybridge in the heart of the Scottish Highlands for our annual Scottish Winter meet. Photos show Mynydd members on this meet over the last 5 years or so – need I say more???
Roybridge is perfectly placed for climbing on the Ben and Creag Meagaidh with Glencoe and the Cairngorms also within striking range. In addition to the climbing, there is hill walking to suit all tastes, from the tourist track up the Ben to Ledge route if you fancy something a little steeper, skiing, bothying, snow holing, etc.
We have 28 beds booked in the Àite Cruinnichidh hostel – details in the journal or reply here or pm me (£140 to the usual account to secure a place). When it all comes together (weather, conditions, partner) Scottish Winter is MAGIC – get involved folks!!!!!!!!
While some of us may be over in Roybridge for the winter meet we’ll take the opportunity to get some classic routes in.
Still waiting to hear back if the new Eric’s will be open for us or even open by then but keep your eyes peeled on Facebook or the forums and i’ll keep you updated.
Feel free to send me a message if your interested!
The last of wonderful winter lectures for the year. As sad as that sounds it also means that spring has sprung!
Full details including location in the members area of our website.
Be sure to check out Facebook and our forums to see where we’ll be heading this month!!
Back to our beloved hut for some well needed Spring cleaning and to sample some of the local crags!
(N.B. this postcode doesn’t mark the exact location, but the marker on the map below is accurate – follow the Crafnant Road steeply up the hill from Trefriw. Continue straight on, past the lake until you reach a gate. Pass through the gate and up the steep gravel track in front of you until you arrive at the car park):
We’ll be back at Awesome Walls, Stockport for our regular indoor open day to meet and greet new members and show them the way of the Mynydd!
Camping, Scrambling, Bivvying, Mini buses, Ridges…
Come join us for the weekend meet that has it all!
Pub: Rock Tavern, SK22 3HJ

On to out next TUPTO. This time we head to the great outdoors to meet yet more members and some we’ve hopefully dragged out from the indoor wall!
Pub: The Millstone Country Inn, S32 1DA
With an overwhelming vote for a return to Pembroke we’ll be heading back, this time to ensure that Heart of Darkness get ticked off.
Further details to follow.
Possibly the first of our time but certainly the first of the year for the Mynydd to give something back to our beloved crags.
Any worth crags can be submitted to me but we’ll put a poll out nearer the time to find a worthy venue.
And now for something slightly different. Its been a while since we’ve climbed here despite always being close by!
Further details to follow nearer the time
After 2 years of missing this meet due to covid stopping play we’re hoping that 2022 will finally be the year we can do Trish proud.

A reminder that I will be confirming bunkhouse numbers towards the end of this month at The Laxdale Holiday Park (https://www.laxdaleholidaypark.com/) in Stornoway. Thanks to those that have already reserved their place in the bunkhouse.
We have provisionally reserved the bunkhouse for sole use by the club that sleeps 16 people (4 bedrooms of 4 bunks each). The campsite will hold this reservation until the end of this year when we will have to confirm how many of the beds we want – we will only have sole use of the bunkhouse if we fill all the available places.
If we don’t fill all the bunks by the end of the year the campsite will be taking bookings from outside the club. If you are still undecided you can still contact the campsite yourself in the New Year and arrange your own booking subject to availability.
The cost of staying in the bunkhouse is £140 for the week. If you decide to come you will need to pay the full amount (it would be £280 for two people etc) into the Mynydd’s bank account by BACS:
Sort code: 01-05-51 Account number: 40582787 Reference text: “Lewis”
Your booking will be secured once the full amount has been paid. Email the treasurer (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I (email@example.com) to confirm payment has been made.
For those not wishing to stay in the bunkhouse the following options are available and can be booked directly with Laxdale Holiday Park. Check their website for more information:
Campervans/Tin tents: From £23 pppn with electric hook-up (£18 without)
Camping: From £13 pppn
Bunkhouse is £140 for the week (£20pppn)
Ferries timetables and prices are available from the Caledonian Macbrayne website https://www.calmac.co.uk/ . Options are either Ullapool to Stornoway (very close to the campsite) or Uig (Skye) to Tarbert (Harris).
