24th October – JOE BROWN’S NUMBERS – A CHARITY CHALLENGE IN MEMORY OF TOM BUTLIN

This event will be fun, novel, sociable and challenging. You can walk, run or ride, in the glorious Goyt Valley (and surrounds) and end your day in the pub (with chips). Its just the kind of random activity that Tom would have loved and, in his memory, money raised will be donated to Torridon Mountain Rescue.

Joe Brown’s Numbers is a unique orienteering course in and around the Goyt Valley. It is 17 miles long and comprises 20 clues, each a series of grid references and bearings about two inches high, chiselled, by Joe, into stone. We have created 7 different challenges between 2.5 and the full 17 miles.

    Joining instructions
    * Find some friends and create a team
    * PACK SOME CASH (as in proper paper money)
    * Pack White and Dark Peak maps and a compass
    * Arrive, with your team, at the Goyt Valley top car park (019758) at between 09.00 and 10.30 depending on your chosen challenge
    * DONATE £5 PER PERSON (OR MORE) TO ENTER
    * Enjoy the challenge and don’t fall out with your team
    * Be at the Shady Oak at 16.00
    * DONATE £5 PER PERSON OR MORE) FOR CHIPS

Can’t wait to see lots of you on the day, thinking about Tom, enjoying the company of great friends and loving the outdoors.
