ParticipantSo – the Mynydd 60th anniversary climbing festival is just over two weeks away and we thought a bit more information on what we’ve got in store might whet your whistles if you have already booked, encourage you to book tickets if you’ve not already done so, or let you know what you’ll be missing if you really do have something better to do!
Saturday 20 June 2015
Crafnant Valley Challenge
Maria and her crack team of assistants have been planning a range of activities for the day, based on the ‘Western Edges Challenge’ format where points will be awarded for climbing, walking, road/mountain biking and running (and eating/drinking!) – once you’ve deciphered the overly-complex scoring system!
Food
We have lined up some amazing Indian street food to tantalise your tastebuds, courtesy of Jackie Kearney and The Hungry Gecko – http://thehungrygecko.com/
Jackie Kearney was a top 4 finalist in BBC One’s MasterChef 2011 and runner up for Best Main Dish at British Street Food Awards in 2012. Her food passion lies with world street food, and vegan and vegetarian dining. As a street food pioneer in the UK, Jackie has travelled up and down the country with her iconic trailer Barbarella, serving up gourmet world street food, as well as working with the MasterChef street food bus.
For one day only, Jackie will be bringing her award-winning food to the Crafnant Valley. You’ll be able to buy samosas and wraps for lunch on Saturday (in between clocking up points on the Crafnant Valley Challenge) and your festival ticket includes lots of food during the evening.
There will also be an ice-cream van appearing during the afternoon, coming all the way from Rhyll!
Music
Also appearing at the Mynydd festival are ‘Double Vision’ – http://www.double-vision-band.co.uk/#!the-band/cjg9
The set list looks great, they’ve been and had a look at Blaen-y-Nant, and are happy to play in a field with lots of drunk climbers and sheep – what more could you want? Beer, you say?
Bar
There will of course be a beer tent, with a number of barrels of Real Ale chosen by Richard Waltham and I. So bring some cash for the bar, and your own wine/lager/spirits/homebrew/soft drinks.
So if you haven’t already booked your tickets, go to https://mynydd.org.uk/wordpress/go-climbing-festival/
We will need to know final numbers by 6 June 2015 in order to make sure the Hungry Gecko can feed us all, so please go to the homepage and book online (and pay by BACS) before the end of the week.

InactiveAre tickets for camping still available? We have had some problems but should be able to come now if we can camp.
