    Andy
Kym and I intend to come.
We will probably come in the van so, if there are a few over the 14 we could sleep in it while still paying our share and using the facilities.
    Cheers

Kym is off to Madagascar but I will be there Saturday evening so can someone leave details of any pub you will have gone to.
Could stay there over Sunday night for Monday if others were free to climb.

    Hi Andy,
I am afraid the email address I had for you didn’t work so posting suggestions here instead.

I agree that going for the nearest Tuesday before the full moon is best as it would be high in the sky when we are out playing. On 19 Jan 2016 it is waxing gibbous with about 80% illumination and at its highest around 20.30.Seems ideal.

    See http://www.timeanddate.com/moon/uk/sheffield?month=1&year=2016
    And scroll down.

    Suggestions for venues.
    ROCK CLIMBING
Probably nicest to have East and South Facing.
Ramshaw is east facing – plenty of reasonable routes
Kinder Southern Edges – e.g. Tick off all the routes on Edale Cross Rocks (and add some new ones).

Not East/South facing and, to be honest, semi caving.
Stanage chimneys are fun – around twin chimneys area.
The chimney at Ossams is good though would just be a short evening.
Mercury Crack at Dovestones Quarry – probably one to avoid!

    A GOOD FREEZE
Crowden Clough is good fun – a few ice “pitches” up to 3m.
Harder would be Wild Boar Clough or of course Kinder Downfall.

AND THE FOLLOWING FROM COLIN FOORD
I guess there’s also Bertram’s Chimney. – Could need a daylight recce beforehand I believe in order to establish access to camps one and two. (Forget all the rubbish myth of the ‘cave route’ up from the river. – Just enjoy the grand adventure of the climb.)

    Also three bike ideas:
A trip up to the Cat and Fiddle and back from the Shady Oak at Fernilee? –
To Bakewell and back from Topley Pike on the trail? –
Another Stu Johnson guided trip around the ‘Tour de Manchester’ from Stockport?

    Tom
    Is this wishful thinking?
Next bank holiday in England is 31 Aug.

Forecast appears better further east and south (Ilkley, Almscliffe etc.) but of course this could change.
I might be able to join in on Sunday so it would be good if you posted where you are going

    Thanks

Just found out on the Derbyshire County Council web site that the road from Sparrowpit to the top of Winnats pass is closed due to a structural failure. Presumably some huge cavern that is opening up beneath it.
Unless anyone knows if the road is now open, a pub in Castleton might make more sense. Anyone got a suggestion?

Yes car park is 128 832. It is I think properly called Mam Nick car park but I followed President Foord’s command (car park on Rushup Edge) in Over the Moors

Have received a request for more info about kit required for Mam Tor Gully.
I haven’t actually done it before so I don’t know anything beyond the guidebook description plus an ascent yesterday logged in UKC which says
“Very soft snow pack. Lots of snow in the gully but getting thin on the grassy flank below the exit. Fun nonetheless.”

It is only grade 1 so a single axe should suffice. There is likely to be a staircase up the snow. Not sure of the thin grass at the exit though. Proper crampons (with compatible boots) rather than microspikes might be advisable for this.
