ParticipantKym pointed out that the coming full moon is the biggest supermoon since 1948. See
The one in December is also superColin Nave
ParticipantI can propose venues for 10 Jan and/or 7 Feb though someone else could volunteer for one of these.
Would try and decide on venue a day or 2 before depending on weather. Could use Bertram’s as a fall back if Richard is available and it hasn’t been done earlier.

ParticipantBertram’s cave (i.e. from near the bottom of the crag) is a good idea but I am not sure it benefits from a full moon. Could do it on an intermediate Tuesday evening.
Is the idea to do the chimney route as well as the completely buried cave section? The chimney is also very good but I don’t think a route through the cave to the chimney is possible now – it might have been before.
The cave presumably can be done whatever the weather so a date could be set now. Other possibilities (winter climbing, Stanage chimneys, Kinder southern edges climbing) are best decided a day or two before.Does this make sense?

ParticipantThanks Sue, we’ve booked

ParticipantKym and I will be there this evening.
I have never done Dream of White Horses despite several visits with this aim. I would like to do it this weekend but will need a partner. Any offers?Colin

ParticipantApproach from north seems to be the right thing to do. Gather at Elliot’s buttress?
The pub venue is apparently the posh one in Baslow. This is difficult as they are all posh there but it might mean the Devonshire arms.Colin Nave
ParticipantAnd of course anyone welcome

Well I guess most people will bring axes and crampons.
I will bring my more technical gear as well – in case conditions are suitable.

Well, this might seem to be encouraging you.Achnasheen is only about 20 miles away with Fionn Bheinn a fairly easy peak.
A few miles further in Glen Carron there are Moruisg and Sgurr nan Ceannaichean.
After that it might be best to drive to Garve with plenty north and south of the road to Ulapool or of course Ben Wyvis.
All this in Ski Mountaineering in Scotland (out of print)
I don’t think there is a lot of obvious ski touring around Torridon itself and mountains on the Western seaboard are less likely to hold snow low down anyway.
We will be taking our skis having practiced for downhill stuff for 2 weeks in Jan/Feb.Colin

ParticipantThanks Richard. Following your reply I rang to book a room and there did not seem to be many rooms left. A heads up for any others awaiting the journal like me. I have also completed the menus and, most importantly, I have paid.

Yes, Agden Rocher is a great crag. However, I am planning to go to Wooler! Bowden Doors etc. should be on everyone’s agenda.Totally remiss of me not to say I was going and I hope it gathers some more support.
Cheers
